IDT’s November performances feature the work of five different choreographers and 15 dancers!

Dancer and choreographer Jason Hartley, of TMP and LED, premiers a new work that he will also be performing, Marley Burn, which refers to skin abrasions contracted from vinyl dance flooring. Generous, life-long contributions from friction and gravity inspire the artist's pursuit for the perfect slide/roll. Listen for the squeak.

Marla Hansen presents Sphere of Influence, performed to the gorgeous music of Thomas Newman. This work is evocative, moody, rhythmic and full of contrasts. Sphere of Influence is a visual feast of solos, duets, trios and groups exploring different personalities, energies and human experiences: brothers, sisters, anger, fear, sex, manipulation, compassion, exploration, joy, and introspection. We are each alone, yet our lives intertwine. We influence and are influenced.

Gonzalo Valdez will premiere a new piece set to the music of Rob Simonsen and Max Richter titled We Need to Talk. This piece explores the emotional world that happens within us but is never physically seen. Seven of the company dancers. including Valdez. showcase the fluid and physical movement of his choreography that ventures into a deeper emotional state that can be dark in times of change.

Lydia Sakolsky-Basquill plays with creating and retrograding movement phrases, blurring the lines of where the phrase ends and the retrograde begins, creating an almost soothing sensation. Performed to music by composer Olafur Arnalds, this new work features all women.

Yurek Hansen premiers a work of theatre and dance featuring all men, using an amalgamation of all the tools in the theatre artist's tool belt.
